Mexico

We entered the Mexican market in 1997, offering harbour towage services at 4 ports along the Gulf of Mexico and at the Lázaro Cárdenas port in the Pacific. In 2003 we expanded our services to operate in the Mexican oil industry.

Today, SAAM Towage is one of the leading tug operators in the country. We recently fortified this position by acquiring a stake in Colombian operator Intertug and integrating its Mexican subsidiaries.

We provide harbor towage services through separate concession agreements with the port administrations of the ports of Lázaro Cárdenas and Topolobampo, along the Pacific Coast, and Veracruz, Altamira, Tuxpan and Tampico, in the Gulf of Mexico.

We also offer offshore services, serving PEMEX–the largest Mexican oil company–along with a variety of other customers, by assisting with tankers, static towage, coastal towage and platform movements.

Our 23-tug fleet has been continuously expanded and updated to meet market demands. The latest purchases were SAAM Huasteca and SAAM Rarámuri, added to serve heightened operating and commercial requirements at the Port of Veracruz.

Our team of mostly local employees has broad experience and a strong focus on customers and safety. All crew members and administrative personnel complete ongoing training to guarantee that best practices are implemented on a daily basis.

Our operations are certified under industry standards like ISPS (Safety), ISM (Health and Environment) and ISO 9001:2008 (Quality).
