\u201cWe began operating in Peru two years ago and want our operations to have a sustainable hallmark. This is an initial step that gives us a baseline from which to identify alternatives to reduce our CO2 emissions and build awareness among our employees,\u201d explained Cristi\u00e1n Cifuentes, country manager of SAAM Towage Chile and Peru.<\/p>\n

To this end, the company has taken concrete steps to develop a culture of environmental protection and to implement and maintain an environmental management system to monitor and reduce the carbon footprint of our operations, all aligned with the corporate environmental policy.<\/p>\n

The \u201cCarbon Footprint\u201d award is an official tool used by the Peruvian government to recognize public and private-sector organizations that manage their greenhouse gases (GHG) in benefit of the environment. More than 800 companies are registered on this platform, which is advised from a technological perspective by the United Nations Climate Promise program.<\/p>\n
