{"id":4251,"date":"2019-05-31T12:37:07","date_gmt":"2019-05-31T12:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saamtowage.com\/saam-towage-compra-remolcador-a-med-marine-para-reforzar-su-flota-en-guatemala\/"},"modified":"2022-05-03T01:02:28","modified_gmt":"2022-05-03T01:02:28","slug":"saam-towage-compra-remolcador-a-med-marine-para-reforzar-su-flota-en-guatemala-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saamtowage.com\/uruguay\/blog\/2019\/05\/31\/saam-towage-compra-remolcador-a-med-marine-para-reforzar-su-flota-en-guatemala-2\/","title":{"rendered":"SAAM purchases tug from Med Marine to reinforce fleet in Guatemala"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Santiago, May 31, 2019.<\/strong>\u00a0SAAM signed an agreement with the Turkish shipyard Med Marine to buy the high-tech tug SAAM Itza in order to reinforce its fleet at the Guatemalan port of Quetzal.<\/p>\n<p>The new tug, which is in the final construction phase and will be delivered in July, will begin operating in early September and replace the SAAM Amazonas.<\/p>\n<p>The new, high-powered tug, will meet requirements set by Quetzal port authorities (Empresa Portuaria Quetzal) in its contract with SAAM for berthing and deberthing services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one more example of the agility and technological advancements with which the company\u2019s towage division is upgrading its fleet, thanks to dedicated vessel selection,\u201d commented the Technical Manager of SAAM\u2019s Towage Division, Pablo C\u00e1ceres. \u201cThe equipment, technology and dimensions of the SAAM Itza make it especially suitable for operating in a port with restricted space, such as Quetzal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>With 23 meters in beam and Rolls Royce US205 FP azimuth thrusters, the new tug has a bollard pull capacity of 60 tons.
