Sustainability is a key axis of SAAM's management, and our strategy takes concrete commitments to develop operations in a profitable and projectable way in time, leaving a tangible impact on our environment, our communities, and the oceans where we operate.

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

Sustainability is part of how we do business. With a strong focus on safety, people, the environment, and innovation, we launched our 2030 Sustainability Strategy, featuring clear and measurable goals across four key pillars.

1. REPORT AND RISK MANAGEMENT

Ensure compliance with strict standards of probity, anticipating and mitigating risks, along with reporting our performance, and maintaining our position in the DJSI.

2. PEOPLE AND SOCIAL COMMITMENT

Promote and diversify the talent of our team, under high safety standards, in addition to contributing to the well-being of our community and our environment through strategic alliances.

3. ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE ACTION

Implement measures that contribute to the mitigation of climate change and to carbon neutrality, along with adopting a standardized management system to optimize our environmental performance.

4. DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS

Implement innovative projects to potentialize our operations, aligned with our commitment to develop integral solutions that meet the needs of our clients

  • Continuous update of the risk matrix and associated controls, incorporating ESG criteria.
  • Maintain annual Dow Jones Sustainability Index classification

CERTIFICATIONS

and Recognitions

  • Brazil: ISO 9001. First tugboat company in Brazil to obtain ISO 14001 certification. Carbon Neutral Certification – PAS 2060 (2022, 2023 and 2024). Gold Seal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, in accordance with NBR ISO 14064-3 (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).
  • Canada: Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) Certification. Blue Circle since 2015. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  • Colombia: First tugboat company in the country to receive Bureau Veritas’ Environmental Sustainability Recognition. PAS 2060 Carbon Neutrality Certification. EFR (Family-Responsible Company) Certification. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and BASC.
  • Costa Rica: Three White Stars and one Silver Star from the Ecological Blue Flag Program. Country Program for Carbon Neutrality 2024.
  • Chile: First tugboat company in the country to receive the Carbon Footprint Reduction Seal (2020). ISM-certified tugboats. ISO 50001. Energy Efficiency.
  • Ecuador: Ecuador Carbon Zero Program (PECC) – Carbon Footprint Reduction. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 14064.
  • El Salvador: Two White Stars from the Ecological Blue Flag Program.
  • Guatemala: One White Star from the Ecological Blue Flag Program.
  • Mexico: First tugboat company in the country to offset its carbon footprint. ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001, carbon footprint verification (ISO 14064), and carbon footprint offsetting (ISO 14068).
  • Panama: ISO 9001. Corporate Reduce Your Footprint Program, Ministry of Environment.
  • Peru: ISO 9001, ISO 28000, ISM, and 1-Star recognition from Peru’s Carbon Footprint Program (carbon footprint measurement since 2022).
  • Uruguay: ISO 9001, carbon footprint verification (ISO 14064), and carbon footprint offsetting (ISO 14068).
