December 19, 2024 | SAAM Towage Brazil has been recertified under PAS 2060, confirming that its operations were carbon neutral during 2023.

“This certification recognizes our permanent commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Reaching this milestone again demonstrates that our business practices fully align with the highest environmental and climate standards,” said Country Manager Renata Ervilha.

The subsidiary reduced greenhouse gas emissions, constantly seeking to increase energy efficiency and adopting more effective operating methodologies. In addition, it acquired carbon credits verified by the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism. These actions allowed it to neutralize 100% of scope 1 and 2 emissions, thus achieving the PAS 2060 Carbon Neutral Certification.

“The certification is not only a seal of approval for our processes, but also an effective commitment to a better future for everyone. It’s a voluntary decision demonstrating our real concern for the environment and what we do to care for it, along with our commitment to our customers to be part of a 100% sustainable service supply chain,” added Ervilha.

This certification aligns with SAAM’s new Sustainability Strategy, which aims to neutralize 65% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 through reduction and offsetting initiatives.

SAAM Towage Brazil operates at 18 ports in the country with a fleet of over 64 tugboats and a team of approximately 700 people.
