Callao (Peru), June 2, 2023. The Peruvian chapter of the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC) certified SAAM Towage Peru’s Control and Security Management System, which give is an international standard in this area.
“In addition to demonstrating that we have an adequate system, this certification included specialized training, special training for internal auditors and several courses that help us strengthen our management,” said the country manager of SAAM Towage Peru, Cristián Cifuentes.
Implementation of BASC standards allows us to optimize control and traceability of the logistics chain, reducing costs and risks of process control, obtaining timely reports of deviations and more engagement from the work team.
The review and certification process took nine months and involved the company’s entire management team.
“Today we are better prepared to prevent crimes such as drug trafficking, money laundering or cybersecurity, while also raising the risk management standards in the supply chain,” added Cifuentes.
BASC Peru is the Peruvian chapter of the World BASC Organization (WBO), which seeks to promote secure practices and simplification mechanisms in the Peruvian foreign trade supply chain, in cooperation with public and private sector authorities and international organizations.
SAAM Towage Peru operates at seven terminals in that country, with a fleet of ten tugs.
