Along with the SST Grizzly, both built at Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Hong Kong, the SST Orca is one of the largest and most powerful tugs in western Canada, measuring 32 meters in length and 12.80 meters in beam and featuring two Caterpillar 3516C engines.

“Thanks to its capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment, the new tug will be used for escort operations, thus fortifying SAAM’s service in northern Canada,” commented the Technical Manager of SAAM’s Towage Division, Pablo Cáceres.
The vessel, a Robert Allan RAstar3200CL design, joins a fleet of 21 tugs operated by SAAM Smit Towage Canada, a joint venture of SAAM and Boskalis.
