London, October 2021. SAAM Towage, a leading provider of towage services, officially joined the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO).

This international body was established for the exchange of technical information and experience, between members of the industry, to enhance the safety and operational reliability of gas tankers and terminals.

“Safety plays a key role in SAAM Towage’s strategy, which is why we trust that joining this organization is a step forward for us in reinforcing this core value at our operations. It will also enable us to share our work in this area with other industry players. In this spirit, this is an important milestone for us that will also strengthen our presence in an industry where we want to stand out,” commented the company’s Managing Director, Hernán Gómez.

The executive added that “today SAAM Towage has one single entity covering all of the Americas. We operate 180 tugs at more than 80 ports in 13 countries in the Americas, so joining SIGTTO will definitely generate value for our services. We also hope to contribute our experience.”

Founded 42 years ago and numbering more than 170 members, SIGTTO brings together the industry’s leading players around the world. The society has observer status at the International Maritime Organisation, which has recognized its role as the authoritative voice on operating and safety issues due to its reputation and integrity.
