Rotterdam, May 22, 2023 | SAAM Towage received the “Tugowner of the Year” award from TugTechnology to recognize companies that set new benchmarks in operational excellence.

Factors cited for the award include the construction of two new fully electric, zero-emission tugs, which will operate in Canada and will also reduce underwater noise, and the company’s efforts to move towards carbon neutral operations, like it has already done in Colombia.

“We appreciate Tug Technology’s recognition, which also represents acknowledgment from many industry players who saw these initiatives as substantive progress towards increasingly sustainable operations. It is part of our strategic objective: to drive innovation and development for better performance and, without a doubt, this award is an incentive to continue on the path of becoming a global player and an industry benchmark,” commented SAAM Towage’s Technical Manager, Pablo Cáceres, who traveled to Rotterdam to receive the award at the TugTechnology 2023 convention.

SAAM Towage is the leading provider of towage services in the Americas with operations in 13 countries. With a fleet of 210 tugs  in more than 90 ports in the region, the company completes over 140,000 maneuvers for around 40,000 vessels every year.
