Our history and milestones

With strong roots where we operate, we are not only a company with a history but also a company with a strong commitment and principles that guide our approach to safety, people, tugboats, and efficient solutions.

  • 2019

    We started using the SAAM Towage Uruguay commercial brand, with a common operating model with the main company and the all subsidiaries.

  • 2015

    SAAM takes control of 100% of the shares of the Kios company.

  • 2014

    Receives 2 85-ton tugboats from BP built for Uruguay, to attend gas terminal operations

  • 2008

    9 barges, 3 pontoons, and 2 cranes are added to the fleet, and we diversify our activities to maritime transport and civil works

  • 1998

    Activities begin in the ports of Nueva Palmira and Boya José Ignacio

  • 1994

    SAAM enters Uruguay by acquiring shares in Kios and adds 2 tugboats to the fleet –  first the Sudestada and later the Matrero.

  • 1992

    Kios S.A. was founded as a result of the Uruguayan state opening to private operators.
