  • 2023

    SAAM concluded the purchase process of 21 tugboats from the Brazilian company Starnav.

    SAAM Towage Brazil has expanded its coverage to Maceió port, Alagoas State, Rio de Janeiro port, Rio de Janeiro State and São Francisco do Sul & Itapoá port, Santa Catarina State.

  • 2022

    SAAM Towage Brazil has expanded its coverage to Belém port, Pará State and Imbituba, Santa Catarina State.

  • 2020

    SAAM Towage expands its coverage and starts operations at the Port of Mucuripe (Fortaleza).

  • 2019

    SAAM acquires Boskalis’s stake in the joint venture and SAAM Towage Brasil is born.

  • 2017

    SAAM expands our coverage in Brazil and starts to operate at the ports of Vila do Conde and Pecém.

  • 2014

    SAAM (Tugbrasil’s owner) and Boskalis (SMIT’s owner) form a joint venture SAAM Smit and expand coverage to the ports of Itajaí & Navegantes, Salvador, and Santana.

  • 2011

    Smit Rebras starts to operate at the Port of Rio Grande.

  • 2009

    We begin operations at Vitoria (Vitoria, Tubarao & Praia Mole) port complex and Angra dos Reis, launching the first terminal contract with Petrobras.

  • 2007

    Smit acquires the Brazilian company Rebras Rebocadores do Brasil and operates under the name of SMIT REBRAS. This same year we start operations at the Port of Santos.

  • 2005

    Tugbrasil, of the SAAM group, acquires the Brazilian company Metalnave.

  • 2002

    The Brazilian company Rebras Rebocadores do Brasil begins operating in Brazil.
